Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to reprise their roles in the new Hunger Games instalment, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
A Significant Reunion for Fans
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, respectively. It is believed their roles will take the form of a flash-forward sequence, given that the original saga concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the highly successful Hunger Games franchise.
Delving Into the Prequel
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a newly published work by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Returning to the director's chair is Francis Lawrence, who directed the majority of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's events are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the notorious 50th Hunger Games.
The cast also includes several accomplished actors in important characters:
- Jesse Plemons is playing Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the menacing President Snow.
