Severe Downpours Worsen Conditions for Evacuated Gazans, UN Alert
Heavy storms over the recent period have intensified the already dire situation of the vast number of displaced Palestinians in the region, as reported by aid agencies.
"Terrible" Conditions Poses Grave Dangers
A spokesman described the recent storm as "horrendous", with downpours so intense that around 15cm (6in) of water gathered on the ground.
"Last night was truly horrendous for the families. The heavy rains were so powerful... And the gusts were so powerful," said the official.
Authorities voice extreme concern that young ones living in tents in wet clothing will succumb to hypothermia and other ailments.
Fatalities and Widespread Loss
Medical officials have stated that one baby has died from exposure and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.
Other reports indicate a higher fatality count. Authorities reported that several structures had fully given way and dozens had collapsed partially.

Assistance Operations Seen as Inadequate
Organizations have escalated shipments of tarpaulins, blankets and garments since the ceasefire commenced, but they stress there is remains not enough aid getting in.
"Officials are working relentlessly to deliver that assistance and to allocate it, but the scale of the necessities is so enormous that we continue to see many thousands of families and children who are truly suffering each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.
Ongoing Concerns and Ceasefire Provisions
The next stage of the agreement includes proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of military forces, and other conditions.
Humanitarian bodies have underscored the imperative for "greater and continuous humanitarian assistance to meet immediate and ongoing requirements."
The hostilities was sparked by an attack in the autumn of 2023. Subsequent campaigns have caused a high number of casualties in the region, as per official data.
